The story, as the family tells it
Johnson Tree Company is a family business and tradition that stems back to 1929 starting with my grandfather Everett Johnson. He was a graduate of the Bartlett School of Tree Surgery and was an expert in the field. He arrived in Southern California in the early days and was quick to notice there was no organized professional complete tree care service around. Hence the tradition began with the Johnson family. He passed his knowledge to his sons as soon as they were old enough to climb a tree and carry a load of brush.
My father Mark Johnson started his branch of the family business when I was born. The tradition continued with me starting at four years old selling jobs with him, learning trees and working with the crew.
He made it lots of fun molding me into a tree man. So now with a family of my own I have been honored and very proud to carry the torch and the family tradition well on into the twenty-first century. Eli Johnson holds certification from the International Society of Arboriculture. It is the credential that means someone has been examined on tree biology, diagnosis, pruning standards and safety, rather than simply having owned a saw for a long time.

Work in a mature canopy over a house, a pool or a neighbour's roof carries real risk. Licensing, bonding and insurance keep that risk off the homeowner.
The Bartlett lineage
Everett Johnson trained at the Bartlett School of Tree Surgery. That is where the discipline in this business came from, and three generations later it is still why diagnosis comes before the saw.
